How to get ranked in Google
Many people ask "how do you get ranked in Google?" or "how do you get on the front page of Google?".
Google provides the best search facility for the majority of web users, so having your website included in relevant results will be critical for the success of your site.
Whilst there are a number of other search "engines", many of these in fact get a lot of their content from Google, so getting a good result in Google will help you get good results in other search engines.
Getting your site listed in Google is extremely easy, however getting listed in the correct place is a bit more difficult and involves two main steps.
Step 1
The first step is to establish a list of five to ten key "phrases" that you think your potential customers might type into Google. Guessing exactly what people might type can be extremely difficult and so doing as much research with your existing customers, friends and family is important.
Step 2
Once you have a list of suitable phrases, the next step is to make sure that all the pages on your site are properly configured [or optimised] to allow Google to quickly and effectively index your site.
Google has some quite specific guidelines which we can help you follow to achieve good results inexpensively.
Basically, to be listed in Google under a specific search phrase, your webpage needs to have the phrase as . .
- part of the page TITLE
- a H1 heading on the page
- included in paragraph text on the page
- included in a link on your site
- (less important) included in the hidden meta keyword tags
